The famous Bomenwijk playground is situated in the neighbourhood of the same name, very close to the Delftse Hout. The entrance is located in the street that leads into the healthcare centrum Bieslandhof. This playground has been there for decades, but it has new equipment and is run by a non-profit organization (Stichting) therefore is always clean and in great condition.
There is a huge green area and you can see lots of trees surrounding the enormous playground. It is divided in two sections by a little fence: one for smaller children up to 5 or 6-years-old, and the other for older children up to 12-years-old. Each section is equipped differently but children can play anywhere they want provided their parents or carers are looking out for them. I recommend this playground for any age, it’s really well-equipped.
In the first section you’ll find several playhouses, a swing set, chin-up bars, a small slide, a spring seesaw, a few little-tikes toys for small babies or toddlers, baby swings, a big sandbox, 2 different merry-go-rounds and an equilibrium frame. They also have a big collection of cars, tricycles, scooter skates, balance bikes, etc. that can be used all around the playground.
In the second section there are 2 electronic games, one consists of a circle of numbers on the floor and you get instructions (in Dutch) on what to do, like jump on each number, or dance, etc. The other is a series of columns with lights, this game is especially fun because you can form teams or play individually but the goal is to conquer each column with your team’s color by touching it, kids run all around trying to get the most columns before the time runs out. There are also big swings, a seesaw, and the favorite: a long zip line.
Cafeteria & more
Inside the playground there is a small cafeteria that serves coffee, tea, soft drinks, syrup lemonade, tosti, fries, ice cream, etc. The prices are very honest and as it’s a non-profit, everything goes back to the playground. They have tables inside and outside the cafeteria, the ones outside have big umbrellas for the sun. They’re very kind and they don’t mind if you bring your own food and drinks.
There is a possibility to rent the whole playground for your children’s birthday or any other party. They also organize family bingo, walking days and other events throughout the year.
Sunday to Friday: 13.00 – 17.00*
*All year long, except on really bad weather.
